Helmets On: Teachers Can Do WHAT?!

I am almost speechless over this story (almost): Union Contract: Teachers Can Be Caught In School Drunk Five Times and On Drugs Three Times Before Being Fired

As union negotiations are underway for a new contract, the old one states that teachers could be drunk or high (or both) and not be dismissed the very first time it happened.

WTHolyH?!

Do I have to remind them that this kind of dereliction of duty contributes to the off-the-cliff decline of public schools?  DO I?

What parent is OK with this scenario?  We are trying like hell to keep kiddos off the stuff, yet we give a pass 3-5 times for those who are in authority over these young minds?

But wait.  What about students?  Do students get 3-5 passes?

Nope.  If they were caught drunk, stoned or in possession, they get a 3-5-day suspension for the first offense.  Huh, at least the union is consistent with the numbers they use.

As I stated, new union negotiations are underway. Who wants to bet the new contract gives the advantage to sub-par teachers once again?
