My mother, The German, got it right. She called BS on Barack when he showed up in Berlin in 2008.
This is a woman who lived through WWII, a woman whose family hid Jews, a woman of very little patience for political shenanigans after having witnessed and survived Hitler. The German got it right.
She called me (note: she so rarely calls me, I thought someone had died) on the day Obama had his rally in Berlin and the convo went like this:
TG: Have you seen what is happening in Berlin?!
Me: Yes. It's awful, isn't it?
TG: Well, what do you plan on doing about it? You have to do something.
Me: I plan on hollering and begging people to listen to reason, but this looks bad. He might be our next...
TG (said in thicker than normal accent cause she's horrified): Oh my Got, Patti. This can never happen. He reminds me of Hitler. This man is dangerous.
I kid you not. And I repeated that conversation to anyone who would listen. I was accused of being inflammatory. Um, hello. I am repeating what a German, who lived through the horrors of Hitler, is articulating. Not inflammatory, jackhole, just facts.
After Barry was elected, many of us knew what we were in for. The German was scared of the past becoming the present. When many of us called Barry out for his overreaching, freedom choking, Hitler-esque style of "governing" we were told to literally shut our mouths.
"Give him a chance. Can't you do that?!"
We would counter that we saw who he was and there were no chances to be given. Then we were called RACISTS! and that was one of the nicer insults hurled our way.
Now? Now, Barry's numbers are tanking. Even his base is pissed. Worse? Europe is disappointed.
Welcome to the club, Europe. WTF took you so long?
The one line that made me laugh in the article was this one: "The Japanese like Obama. Maybe they don't
know all that much about him, but I guess he continues to be seen as a
youthful, energetic, charismatic leader."
They like him! They don't know much about him, but they really like him! Much like his blind base.
The German, every American who saw this coming and I await the apology of those who were either too ignorant or too stupid to see this coming.

The twisted thing is, now that Barry has been given his chance, his campaign so far has basically been "give me another chance." As if.
tmax: while you and i think so, i pray the majority of others do as well. my fear about what he'd do to us prior to his election was unprecedented, my fear if he gets a second go at it is beyond that.
God help us.
Obama has been returning the compliment in the past few days. One of his new themes is that Europe's financial woes are a result of them not following his lead. For the first time ever, an American president is telling Europe that they are not socialist enough.
Some of my extended family were at the Berlin wall for presidential speeches, three times. They cheered Kennedy, they cheered Reagan, and they wondered what the hell Obama was talking about.
law: he must be stunned that folks are turning tail and BOLTING!
and as for me, I'm gonna listen to the germans. they lived thru it once...
Patti, Obama's world is falling apart on him. He actions have caught up with him and now he needs to defend a record -- for the first time in his life. That's called accountability. He's doomed.
andrew: well, he does have a record, just not one we think is worth defending. although, he sure the hell thinks so. and that's the part that gives a laugh everyday as well as a pity look thrown in his direction.
can't change the stench of FAIL. i'm praying that he packs it up and takes it with him come november (january).
