It's been such a great week, with the changeover and all, that I wanted to finish it off with the impressive Allen West piece in the NY Times.
Questions for Allen West: Life Of The Party
It's hard to pick my fav answer; he's so quotable. That he thinks Barry sux as a leader is right up there, but my absolute favorite quote is this one: Leadership is about being a servant first.
Boom, freakin' BOOM!
I also like how he ended the interview when basically asked if he's tired with all the hub-bub, even before starting his term. He gave this perspective: No. I have not yet begun to fight, as John Paul Jones said.
That's our Westie.
Now, go have a great weekend.

Patti, Allen West is quickly becoming my favorite new politician! I hope he sticks around and maybe even moves up an office or two! :-)
The lefties who scream raaaaaacist and think that conservatives just don't like the idea of a black president can't seem to explain our respect/admiration/support (/secret love) for the Lt. Col.
I would say that from this particular interview, my favorite quotes are "the most expendable person in the battalion is me." and "I don't look to a man to get pride in myself" and my very favorite "let me tell you what happened...and that's the end of it." Hero.
I think my head would explode from sheer joy and excitement if he would enter the presidential field. I get {{tingles}} just thinking about it. I kind of hate myself for that reaction because one of the things I hate most about the lefties is their fawning worship of Dear Leader.
Tam, I would love to see him run for President. On the "tingles," I think this is different. You respect West because of what he stands for, what he represents. He is a leader who can make our country so much better. And he's an electric speaker -- very exciting.
Matthews got tingles for a man he knew nothing about just because he was black (appeased guilt), appeared articulate (easy to sell to racist country), and caused Matthews to think that America would suddenly because amenable to leftist politics. He was in love with the moment, and he didn't know anything about Obama the man -- or care.
So I don't see the infatuation with Obama's image as at all equivalent to being excited about finding a solid leader that we know can and will make the country a better place.
That's true Andrew. Thanks for making me feel better about myself! I would not classify my *secret love* for Mr. West as infatuation, as so many on the left demonstrate. I would NEVER say about Mr. West "He could do anything to me" (to which I responded "well then bend over and get ready to take it, because he will!"...boy, did I call that one!) as my socialist friends did at Obama's inauguration.
andrew and tam: as long as westie backs up his talk with walk, i say: allen west for president!
*thanks for carrying on here while i had to attend to yard work (yes, in texas, we have yard work in january. boooo.)*
