2011 Pregame SOTU Analysis

NAW's 2011 Pregame SOTU Analysis: It's why you come here!

My analysis of the SOTU address, written on Tuesday afternoon, is simple: Momma ain't buh-b'lieving it. Whatever "it" is that comes from Barry's mouth.

This is based not on hate, but on his character and his track record of actions and reactions to the American people thus far in his reign. If it smells like dog chit, looks like dog chit, well, we all know the rest of that.

I just read a Drudge headline that was in RED: Makeover: Obama to propose budget freeze and ban earmark tonight

Well well well, I'm sure the left would point to that and #1 get a bit pissy and #2 use it as proof as Barry's change of . Awwww, so soft, so fuzzy, so manipulative.... Don't you wonder why he didn't propose these things already?! Like a year or two ago?

Fact is, we all know who is responsible for his "change": you and me and every other voice that is rising in opposition to stop the mayhem in Washington. Without the punch to their agenda libbies received at the polls in November or our sustained push-back against this monster of a gaining government, Barry would stand before us tonight and keep on digging our grave. He'd even lecture us on our responsibility to follow.

It's only because we, as in WE THE PEOPLE, are not taking it anymore and the man wants to be re-elected, that he is making "nice" to our face, "oh hey, here's a budget freeze and NO MORE EARMARKS, gosh darn it." yet proceeding with his agenda as soon as he walks away from the teleprompter.

He ain't fooling me, and I am sure as hell, he ain't fooling you.

His back is against a wall of Americans determined to make him a one-termer, and he knows it.

His turnaround for the SOTU is transparent. But hey, let him say the words, let him make his promises. Let him help us write the case against reelection. Do your best, dude. For once, we're rooting for you.

GO BARRY GO!

Since this is a pregame analysis, there's room for error and big surprises I never saw coming, but for the most part, I'm betting I got pretty darn close.

If I'm not suffering from a hangover, from my SOTU drinking game*, I'll link some post-game analysis from others.

*2011 SOTU Drinking Game: Every time Bar tries to hijack Reagan's legacy (oh, how he wishes he could own that), or uses imagery that indicates he's swinging right, or lectures us on unkindness towards one another: DRANK!

EDIT: PROOF I CALLED IT IN THE PREGAME ANALYSIS!:

Oh Katie, you so MSM...

EDIT: Even Rush and Demint know I called it!: Rush Limbaugh's Facebook Wall

Rush Limbaugh: Rather than try to analyze last night's speech topic by topic, I coulda just said what Senator Jim DeMint said: "Frankly, I can't believe what Obama says anymore. It was really hard to take it seriously."

BOOM! Momma like!

I couldn't watch it (it was on while I was at work) but I read the transcript after I got home - or tried to anyway, but I kept getting pissed off. While I respect the office of the POTUS, it really bothers me that nearly everyone that goes to DC ends up completely out of touch with reality. It's like they can't see the forest for the trees. They think they can fix our problems by making a little dig here, a little cut there, rather than taking a long, hard holistic look at the entire package. We're treating the symptoms of the disease, and not the disease itself - and all it does is make us feel like we're not sick, when in fact the disease is just getting worse and worse.

jacob: your response was the response felt by many yesterday. barry's "change of tone" was forced upon him by the tea party and for no other reason. the same tea party that has just gotten started making changes that, God-willing, will mean something towards attacking the disease and not the damned symptoms.

there's a sense of hope that we're on to something big stateside that is electric. hang on bud!

Patti, Nice call! LOL!

I love DeMint -- he's becoming my conservative hero! Speak truth to power man! :-)

Did you see that the Democrats are already shooting down his "no earmarks" plan? Figures.

andrew: LOL! i knew there would be no need to dissect the sotu mess. as if it had anything to even do with the actual sotu. remember the part where he said this wasn't about the next election because we just had an election? ~thunderous applause here~ well, this sotu sounded suspiciously like a stump speech for reelection to me.

and demint brings the heat!

as far as the dems shooting down the earmarks, you knew it was coming. barry will shrug his shoulders and tell naive voters that he tried, gosh dilly darn it.

throw the bum out!

~end rant~

Patti, It absolutely sounded like a stump speech. It was full of little digs and appeals to his interest groups. And it reminded me a lot of his campaign speeches -- generalities intended to let people hear what they want to hear.

He's going to find out that was a mistake for a SOTU because he's spelled out no agenda anyone can put into place. All he's given is "let's do better things." How do you put that into law?

Basically, he's ceded the initiative to the Republicans. And they really seem up to the task for once!

(And you're right about the earmarks, they'll claim they proposed it and then never mention that they opposed it right after proposing it.)

Thanks for the link Patti!

andrew: always happy to link you guys.

like i said in the netry, for once we were encouraging him to what we knew he would do last night. we'll use his own words/deeds/ridiculousness against him for 2012.

when we win, i think we should send him a thank-you basket full of junk food for making our job easier. he's gonna need the high-fat comfort coma, michelle and her food-nazi ways be damned!!
