When I first read of the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona, I was stunned. My immediate response? Prayer. Prayer for those killed, prayer for those injured, prayer for all involved, including the shooter.
Yes, I knew she was/is a Dem and yet, I still managed to pray for her and her family. I was able to put my politics aside and beseech God that He save this woman's life, if it was His holy will. For goodness sakes, she is a mother, and a mother first.
I only say "I was able" because yesterday I was accused of being "retarded" and an idiot (one in the same?!) for believing that we should take a moment and let the FACTS unfold about who did this, before calling for Palin's head or ~any conservative who doesn't believe Palin is evil incarnate here~.
The response and resulting spewing vitriol was shocking even to me.
The left wasted no time in their attempt to spin this horrifying event to fit their sick twisted narrative (which is: we are right, and you are wrong if you disagree with us, assholes.)
The left's bloggers hit the Internet in lightening speed, calling it like they saw it: Sarah Palin Blamed by Bloggers for Shooting of Gabrielle Giffords
Every libbie site I visited was overflowing with white hot hatred for conservatives and their guns that kill, or for the "teabaggers" and their perceived yet, never verified, racism, and the mantle of conservatism. (interesting note: the shooter listed as among his favorite books: Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto...sound like a conservative to you?)
SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH YOUR EXTREMISM?! seemed to be the point the left was making. It surely seemed like the point they wanted Americans to believe. And if you didn't, if you entered the conversation with a voice that asked for restraint until the facts were uncovered, that this wasn't the time for finger pointing (although i did counter their points with my own) you were deemed beneath understanding, a moron unable to comprehend the left's point. Which is ironic since no matter how slowly I speak, no matter how monosyllabic my words are, the left is unable/refuses to understand why I don't/can't agree with them.
I sadly say now, after reading pages and pages of the left's rhetoric of hate, that what they are attempting by spinning this story to their needs, by attempting to use this tragedy to push their agenda of socialism, fascism, communism, and by hoping for the ultimate power grab on the back of this moment by a lunatic, is grievously evil.
It pains me to say it, I prayed it was merely a few hard-left leaning radicals that were shooting off their mouths, but after yesterday's incredible show of hate, I can't believe that any more than I can believe Barry has our best intentions, as a nation, at heart. Both are lies of the left. Period.
And my fight for this nation, for the country I love, just got more serious.
Just a few snippets of lefty bile:
* Left pushes violent leftist revolution (IE uses violent rhetoric starting at 1:00 mark) a mere two months ago.
Brings to mind Barry's very words: If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Where are the lefties TODAY screaming for these dude's heads?! Or even Barry's culpability, seeing that he used words that invoke images of violence. Hmmmm?
* Democrat group is using Gifford's shooting as a fundraiser
"The email blast sent out Sunday morning to its supporters tells members that “we don’t know yet” why Jared Loughner shot Gabrielle Giffords but goes on to lay the blame on Sarah Palin and Gifford’s opponent in the past election for using “violent imagery” in his campaign."
No need for the facts when we can scare you out of your money! Despicable wretches.
* For all the lefties SCREAMING about Palin's use of crosshair target on her map of incumbents to beat, why didn't you SCREAM about your own using this?: Our bullseye targets are not like Palin's crosshair targets (NAW calls BULLSHIT)
Oopsie! My bet is most lefties had no idea this was going on, but if they did, prepare for their common, logic-empty, argument that the two have nothing in common, that they are two different things.
* Breaking: Democrats Plotted to Blame Tea Party For Slaughter
"One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.
“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”
Everyone clear on this? Instead of blaming the domestic terrorist that actually pulled the trigger, let's not waste this crisis; let's pin the blame on the innocent. Democrats, this is your party in action. How proud are you at this moment?
Even more sickening: Journalists Urge Caution after Ft. Hood, Now Race Te Blame Palin For AZ Shootings
I could go on and on to prove my point, but I think you get it.
The left is marching forward, as should we.
Ever vigilant, mah babies.
But before I leave you, I want to thank my conservative friends. As I read through sites yesterday, you were the ones offering sane, calm discourse, in the face of pure hatred. Over and over I saw you telling others that now was NOT the time for finger-pointing or judgment on who the shooter was or which side of the political line he fell (even as it was discovered that he was a radical leftist and most definately NOT a tea-partier nor conservative). You asked for people to pray. You went to the very core of who you are as people (as i offer, so did the left). You fell to your knees and asked God-Almighty for wisdom, strength and peace. I love you more today than you know. You make me proud to be called one of your own.
Onward.

Patti, Excellent article! I've done something similar for this afternoon (4:00 EST), where I've put together examples of the hate they've spewed at Bush and Palin and Rush etc.
All these hateful little leftists are running around spewing, screaming how we're the ones who are hateful, and when we call them on it, they whine: "we were never hateful, we always stayed respectful!" So I've put together a large sample of the truth. So drop by.
By the way, I had no idea they were using this as a fund raiser, but it honestly doesn't surprise me in the least. Aren't they the ones who always said: "NEVER WASTE A TRAGEDY!" or something like that.
They are disgusting human beings(?). It's no wonder their history on this planet has been enslavement, torture, oppression and murder. And yet strangely, they are also the most self-righteous bastards on the planet. When it comes to smug, every one of them makes Donald Trump look like Mother Theresa.
P.S. I'm going to link to your post today.
andrew: i am astonished at the vitriol. these people openly accuse us before even stopping to think of the damning hate that has come out of their own mouths. it goes back to spin. reality and liberals shall never meet. it's shameful.
and i am done with it, as are so many others.
thanks for the link. i'll do the same.
Thanks Patti!
I hate to say it, but I'm honestly not surprised by the vitriol. People use the term "hate" very lightly, just like they misuse other words. Real hate almost can't be described except with the word "hate." It's firey, it's nasty, it's violent, it's irrational... and then some.
For years, I've seen hints of hate boiling over on the left. Blacks hate whites. Feminists hate men. Socialists hate Jews and capitalists. Most of them hate the rich. And I don't mean "dislike," I mean when you get them started, they end up foaming at the mouth saying things that would cause them to call the cops if the same thing was said about them. I tell you honestly that these people would have no problems with death camps so long as it was the right people put into the camps.... which is where the left ALWAYS ends up.
Then Bush came along and they spewed so much hate that it was all around them and it became acceptable for them to openly hate people who didn't join the leftist-mob.
Then they thought they'd won America in 2008, only to discover that they were sold a false bill of goods by the Democrats. Suddenly, their hate was unfocused on everything and everyone.
Add in the utter humiliation that they thought America had finally accepted them in 2008, only to find that even a minor slice of what they wanted was enough for the public to overwhelmingly (and permanently) repudiate them.
Suddenly, you've got all that boiling hate, spewing everywhere at everything, and then here comes a chance to let it all out aimed at their standard boogeymen.
So I'm not surprised. Nor will I be surprised if there are further assassination attempts by leftists "to get even." They are practically goading each other to do it.
andrew: my heart is heavy with the realization of how the left hates. i hadn't wanted to believe it up until this weekend. still, my heart tells me people *cannot* be so filled with hate in this amazing country, but my head starts filing through the truth i have witnessed/read/heard and i am incredibly heart-sick.
god help us.
What about the guy (can't remember who it was now...) who said quite recently that Obama needs another Oklahoma City bombing? Not that we need another example of the left's hatred, violence, and hypocrisy. Sickening. Sorry bastards.
tam: the examples of their hypocrisy are beyond counting. they should be embarrassed or shamed into silence, yet they pile on to their downfall. huh. i guess there is a sliver lining in every cloud...
Sad. So, so sad that we have come to this point in our country. Makes me want to move to a very small island somewhere and hibernate the rest of my life.
Excellent article, Patti. Well done.
yoyo: thank you. so many share your sadness.
Patti, linked! :-)
In terms of the hate, I think it is honestly difficult for normal people to believe that there people out there who spend their lives hating everything and everyone around them, but they are there. I've run into them in college, I've met them in my time as a lawyer, and I've seen them in politics. They live only to hate. And now they've found each other and banded together. It's sad and it's dangerous.
andrew: thanks (and you'll be linked wednesday!)
you're right about it's hard to believe folks can be so filled with hate. i have always given the benefit of the doubt but after this weekend, i have revisited my belief. it's amazingly scary that this runs so deep.
