America's Elite Pwned By The Daily Mail

We have all been in a situation when, as an outsider looking in, we could get to the crux of a matter quickly.  We could see the truth when those stuck in the twisted mess could not see past their own need to help themselves.

That's exactly what the Mail Online has done.  Haven't heard of the Mail Online?  It's an ocean away in the U.K.

They wrote an amazing piece, from their outsider view, about the Arizona shooting: How America's elite hijacked a massacre to take revenge on Sarah Palin

Some folks are gonna be pissed just reading the headline, let alone the body of the story.

They make some valid, truth-filled points.

* Under Barry's term of hope and change, America is more polarized than it has been in 40 years.  Try and deny the truth of that fact.  Sure, the left tries, but it's sad really.  Agree with that truth and Momma bets there's a libbie somewhere screaming RACIST!

* Those aligned with Rahm and his "you never want a serious crisis to go to waste" mentality snatched the shooting tragedy from the parking lot of that Safeway in Arizona and put it in their toolbox of weapons to wield as a political machete to cut down the right.  As we all know by now, the majority of Americans are appalled by the left's audacity to feed off the dead for political gain.  The left showed itself last weekend for the truth of their intent, that nothing is sacred in their fight for power, not even their own, and most of us were horrified and ashamed at their gall.

* Sarah Palin frightens the left.  They refuse to understand her appeal.  They refuse to acknowledge her strengths.  They refuse to open their mind to the reality that, in Barry, they made a horrendous mistake.  And those on the right, those in the middle, who find her more qualified to be president than Barry are scorned and mocked by the left.  So wasn't this massacre convenient for the left?  Within minutes of the news hitting the Internet, leftists began pooping themselves with their baseless theories, their made-up wishful thinking, that SARAH PALIN was to blame.

First they can give her credit for nothing, then a horror with a lunatic and a gun happens and they give her credit for everything.  It's disingenuous, dangerous and despicable; the American people weren't biting.  More than that, the American people were disgusted with the left at their attempts to arm themselves with this tragedy in hopes to shoot down Sarah Palin.

* "Don't Retreat, Reload"  This is a saying that Palin's father uses and Palin herself uses.  Who among the sane thinks that she is literally telling folks to get their guns and shoot up the joint if folks don't agree with you?  I routinely say I'm gonna kick someone's ass (Momma does a mean figurative ass-kicking, mah babies) and not once has there been an ass that I've physically kicked.  American's everywhere use the crass f-you when talking to others, yet I would venture there is less literal f-ing and more figurative shows of annoyance meant.

For the left to take "Don't retreat, Reload" literally shows a lack of basic understanding of their own language and diminished capabilities to relate to word-play frustration.  For self-described intellectuals elites, you'd think this understanding would be elementary.

Instead, they took Palin's use of the phrase to "prove" she was responsible for pulling the trigger on this moment.

* Jane Fonda got into the fray when she tweeted: @SarahPalinUSA holds responsibility. As does the violence-provoking rhetoric of the Tea Party.

1) When Hanoi Jane gets involved, the left is sunk.  All credibility implodes.

2) Prove your accusation, Hanoi.  What?  Can't?  Huh...

3) The Daily Mail gets it, Jane.  Conservatives get it, Jane.  Odd that the rabble left refuses to get it.

4) Spelling it out, Jane, oh enlightened one: The left is wrong. To rush to condemn an innocent woman, an innocent party, especially when you know what you are doing is wrong, yet march forward hoping for political gain, is evil.

* The article ends with this insight from across the ocean: The dems won't stop.  A nine-year old child was killed?  Perfect.  Attack, attack, attack.   Accuse, accuse, accuse.  Perfect. The dems won't stop.

Just so happens that the last point the Online Mail made was the very epiphany I had last weekend, as my eyes were opened to the dogs of hell of the left and how they will stop at nothing, not even the loss of a child, to push their agenda.

Well done, Daily Mail.

Anon, Why? Did you cut off the head of an infidel in the name of your God?

Patti, The Daily Mail has been an invaluable source for news in recent years. They cover things that our media won't touch, and even when it's a story our media will touch, they're days ahead. I'm not sure how they're doing it, but they are miles ahead of our press here.

And they've done a great job with this piece, just as with many others. Kudos.

I agree that we are more polarized now than we were ever before. And I totally feel like a sucker for falling for the big O's promise of bringing both sides to the middle. Stupid optimist in me. From now on pessimist Shelmo is gonna rule the land. I'm serious.

I do think, however- that the big O made some valid points when he addressed the crowd last night. America is better than this. We don't have to stoop to name calling, finger pointing, bashing our "opponent" (by the way optimsit Shelmo hates that word unless you are talking about a sporting event).

Our world is so corrupt and yucky that it makes me not want to be one who cares. Why vote when all you have are people name calling and finger pointing? Why share an opinion when many of the opposite opinion are going to jump all over you for it? Why try to make the world a better place when at the end of the day someone is working equally as hard to make it a worse one?

I think this is God's way of telling me to stick with my little classroom and the people in it. Maybe that is all the change in the world I am supposed to be making.

Yes, I am frustrated. Can you tell?

@shelmo, you are not the only one frustrated. The big O ran a campaign promising to bring us together, promising transparency, promising no pork, promising alot of things that americans want and believe we need to succeed as a country. Instead we get out of control spending, we get told we are the enemy, we get bad mouthed for our beliefs, we basically, on a daily basis get told to f*&k off. Yes, they may not say the actual words, but actions say as much as words, and probably more. So as conservatives, when we see this administration doing nothing, they promised, and everything they can to destroy, the america, values, traditions that I believe in and have been living. HELL YES, I am going to raise my voice in opposition. It is my responsibility as an american to do so. I am sick and tired of the libbies attacking the constitution. It is that very document that allows them to be the assholes they are. I find it funny how they hate the constitution, but they are the first ones to say they have a right to do what they do.

So, Readers Digest version. To all you libbies, if you want to play the game, play it, don't always try to change the rules so you can win. Just play the damn game

Shelmo, I'm not sure what side of the spectrum you are on, but I honestly think people on both sides are genuinely frustrated.

I have long believed that the only way we can fix the problems of society is if (1) we can be honest about them and talk openly about them, and (2) we can rationally discuss solutions. The problem is that many people can't accept either of those points. Many people just want to blame others and point fingers, and too many politicians play into that because they know it works and because they don't have the moral courage to stand up and say, "listen, this is true even if you don't like it."

Unfortunately, that's a deeply ingrained human trait that will probably be with us forever.

But that's not a reason to be pessimistic. The best thing to do is to engage with those who will be reasonable and listen fairly and try to reach a consensus with those people. And stop supporting people who play the game of finger pointing and throwing blame instead of solutions.

That's not a perfect solution, and it will take a long time for it to change the world, but it can be done. Take a look at a guy like Gandhi who realized that being right was the most important thing and that as long as you do the right thing, the world will eventually follow you. It may sound utopian, but it's true -- if enough people decide to change the way debate is handled in this country, society will change.

But the corollary to that is that we must let people express themselves as best they can so that we understand all sides. And we must be very careful not to stifle genuine opinions by calling them "hate", as many are trying to do now. And if someone expresses themselves inartfully, we should help them express themselves better, not try to shut them down. And if they really aren't offering anything more than hate or pointless blame, then we should ignore them and not reward them. Eventually, the tone will improve and we'll all be better off for it.

I think that's the thing, Andrew. I'm not on a "side". I can see a little bit of truth everywhere. And a little bit of untruth everywhere. It probably doesn't help that I am terrible at making decisions and so I pour over every.little.detail (which, by the way kind of makes me a kickass teacher).

Historically speaking most of the time I vote I go conservative for one issue. I won't say what that is (because my point is not to start someone finger pointing at me). I will admit, as Patti knows, that the optimist in me fell for the Big O and his promise of uniting the parties and so I gave him a shot. Patti can also attest to the fact that within a few months I admitted I was duped. (Ask Patti. She'll vouch for it). But I can also say that there are issues that I agree with one "side" (a word I am starting to hate) with yet disagree with them on other issues. And so now I feel stuck in the middle. I told my friend Hobby, an older, wiser conservative man that I wish I could make everyone shut up for just one day. Nobody can say anything. At all. I feel like the mom who is driving with the kids in the back seat who are arguing. "Don't make me come back there". And I hate that feeling. Everybody needs to stop. Want to know why the younger generations are apethetic? it's because all we hear is the yelling. And we don't want to hear it. Hobby, of course deadpanned "Well, they started it".

shelom: i don't know if we're more polarized than ever, i mean there's no actual civil war going on, but i see why many feel tired of the environment.

and i think andrew handled your "why" question, and i've nothing to add except this: what you do is extremely important. more stories are told about teachers changing the views of kiddos, making their lives able to change others. it's the ripple in the pond effect. that's important change. that's powerful change.

grumpy: well said, brother. and ain't it just like a sore loser to want to change the rules.

that should be a poster, t-shirt and in every elementary classroom in the world. well said.

shelmo: i'm vouching for you.

and i'm with hobby, the left's sheer blind hate of sarah palin and all she stands for started this firestorm. i'm just one of the fireman trying to shut it down.

everyone: thanks for coming and joining the conversation while i was gone. left, right or the middle, this is good stuff.
