Obamacare. Boooo. Plllttt. Gack. Blech.
I really don't have anything nice to say in support of this stinker. What I do support is a repeal and replace action. As luck would have it, the good folks over at Commentarama read my mind and wrote a spiffy article defining repeal and replace. Go HERE and read all about it.
Here's a tasty taste:
Repealing only also plays right into the hands of the left. For years, the left has pushed us further and further left. In response, “intellectuals” on the right argued that we need to undo what the left does whenever we get the chance. . . and that’s it. Do you see a problem with this? Well, let me provide an analogy.
You are standing on a football field. The other team keeps pushing the ball toward your endzone. You get the ball back. Suddenly, your brainiac coach tells you, “we’re only going to push the ball back to where the other team started their drive. Then we stop.” Is the problem getting clearer?
Brings the problem right out into the light, doesn't it. That's an analogy even Reid and Pelosi could understand. Repeal isn't the end of it. We MUST replace Obamacare with something that could actually work for the good of the people.
I called Senator John Cornyn's (R-TX) office this morning and asked about John's yapping about shifting our focus from repealing healthcare to this:
In recent public comments, they have quietly played down the notion of repealing the law while emphasizing claims that it will hurt jobs, the economy and the deficit.
Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, who chairs the committee responsible for electing GOP senators this fall, said in an interview, "The focus really should be on the misplaced priorities of the administration" and Congress' Democratic leaders.
The fella who answered the phone advised me that quote came from the Huffington Post. I corrected him. It didn't. It came from the MSM, the AP then carried by Breitbart, to be exact. He backpedaled and couldn't give me anything of substance, so I left him with a Pattism:
If John isn't onboard with repealing this turd, then I will work to take his job and give it to someone who will. I will work to vote him out of office.
The fella replied: Thank you ma'am. Can I have your zip code and I'll pass it along to John.
And that was that. WTH?!
If the Republican leadership isn't all about taking Obamacare down, what are they about? If they aren't openly against it, willing to fight to repeal and replace it, then what else are we left to believe other than they are for it. I hate, HATE!, the idea of having to fight my own in this dogfight, but you better believe I will. This is not a matter of party, this is a matter of freedom.
John, are you listening?!

Patti, Thank you for calling Cornyn!! I couldn't believe it when I heard him say that. Talk about a loser strategy. He wants to use Obamacare as a political target, but not even work to repeal it or fix it? Those are the kinds of Republicans we don't need!
And thanks for link! I hope people realize the extraordinary opportunity we have right now to truly fix health care with actual free market reforms. If we do this right, we can undo most of the government tinkering that he ruined the system over the past sixty years.
andrew: cornyn is a disappointment. i have always said he's been running for president since he was elected. i have never had any sort of satisfaction calling his office on important issues. ever.
and man, are you right. can you imagine if we get this thing done RIGHT?! holy smokes. it's going to be a slog, especially if we have to fight our own, but i am hopeful that we can do this.
Patti, I think it would be fantastic if we could fix health care. If we could open the health care market to free market forces, health care could become as big of a non-issue as buying a burger!
I have been less than impressed with Cornyn. He sometimes says the right thing, but he never follows through and he's usually advocating timidity and failure.
andrew: mmm, burgers. wait what?! oh yeah, healthcare. from your keyboard to god's ear.
and cornyn: would it make you lol to know that texans can't stand his ads where he's wearing a hat in the middle of a pasture selling himself as quintessentially texan?! gives me a blech.
