Thanks For One Year

One year.

Notawonk.com has been up and running for one year today. Where did the time go?

One year seems like a long time, but as I think back over the year, it has zipped by at astonishing speed. Maybe it seems that way because there was so much to talk about, to rail against, to accomplish in the quest for freedom.

I started this site as a promise to God. And yes, I know that may put me in the kook arena for some, but when God asks you, me, to do something, it has been my experience not to fight it and move forward with the request. And yes, He is aware of my foul mouth, but I am certain He loves me anyway.

One year.

Daily, I offer political information steeped in passion and seasoned with humor. I write about the news that annoys me, scares me, gives me a lol, or pisses me off in ways I have never been pissed off before. I put it down in black and white and leave it at that.

When I agreed to write here, I committed to 5 days a week, and I have kept that commitment. When I started, I had no idea what that would entail, or the time it would take to post 260 times in 52 weeks. It has been an eye-opening experience and I have much respect for anyone who attempts the same.

One year.

The absolute best part of my journey has been you guys and gals, my readers. Many of you just come to read (my personal silent majority), and I appreciate that you pop in to see what's up on this humble site. Some of you come to read and then feel compelled to comment. Man, how I love your comments. (to the rest of you: don't be shy, COMMENT AWAY!) Some of you have become Interwebs (thanky al gore! oh, and here's a snow shovel if you're caught in the biggest snowstorm on record in D.C.!!!! seriously, i love how God is messin' with you warming cultists) friends. I am grateful and humbled that I get to count such an amazing group of avatars as friends. Some come and take the time to link me in anger on your blogs as a hack or a wacko. LOL, and thanks! And finally, some of you come to spy on me. Most likely checking to see if I fall within the Right-Wing Extremist/Angry Mob realm. Check and check.

One year.

I don't know how long I will continue to write here. I'll stop when I'm told. In the meantime, in this year ahead of us, I suggest you strap on your helmets, my babies. It's gonna get ugly out there with elections looming in November.

I am optimistic that many people who never cared for politics have realized that their voice must be heard in order to win the good fight. That now is the time to stand up and make Washington, all party affiliations, understand that we will no longer accept their shenanigans. The Formerly Apathetic Political Giant has been awakened. We are rubbing the sleep from our collective eyes and are not happy with what we see.

Here's to many more entries of takin' names and kickin' ass (note to spies: this would be literally taking names, yet figuratively kicking ass. we may be an angry mob in your book, but we work within the law. dismissed.) of those in Washington who are misguided about our vocal intentions to take back our country, our intent to restore the freedoms they have stolen, or our insistence to retain the freedoms they are hellbent on prying from each and every tax-paying American.

One year.

Thanks for sharing the ride with me.

Onward!

Happy Birthday "NAW." We started our blogs in the worst of times, and we're going to keep pushing until we see the best of times again. Hang in there, and best wishes for another successful year.
