So sick of the left getting the truth wrong, aren't you? I'm talking about the Tea Party movement in particular. Part of me is highly amused they have their panties in such a wad over a movement that is uncontrollable by them or their typical scare tactics, tried and true for lesser constituted folks.
Tea Party folks will not be silenced, not on any threat. That this movement is still gaining momentum after all they have done to stop it, should be their first clue, but sadly they are still trying to define something that has already defined itself. That the left continues to belittle and insult this movement is proof those Tea Partiers are on to something B-I-G! The left feels threatened, and rightly so. How dare regular, unschooled in the ways of Washington, hardworking citizens speak up for themselves and demand to be heard.
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! (the upside: if you'll just let us pass healthcare, you won't have to "pay" to have it sewn back on. win win!)
On the other hand, the left needs to be schooled in their ignorance, or is it stupidity, about this very American, very patriotic, very Tea Party movement. That is what so many of us have been trying to do on a daily basis. We give them the truth of who we are, of what we stand for, of how we want them to proceed on our behalf, but, like ungrateful, spoiled children, they refuse to listen. They want what they want when they want it, and whoa to those who get in their way. GIMME!
They shoot of their mouths and expect people to believe their nonsense. They spitball lies in hopes that some hit the mark, in hopes that more folks will join their efforts to silence the angry mob. ANGRY MOB! While, in comparison, the Tea Partiers use the Super Soaker of truth and history to forward their message.
Mark Davis has written a concise, easy to understand (even for the left...unless they continue to stick their fingers in their ears and scream), article on what the Tea Party is, and what it is not. Pop on over and give him a read.
..the Tea Party movement is not some subculture of bug-eyed lunatics. Any political movement is going to have some characters ranging from colorful to occasionally unhinged, but the insulting tone of much of the coverage of the movement would have you believe that these are fringe extremists who could snap at any moment.

What really scares them is that they're used to going to protests and seeing the freak show that is the left. But so far, the public itself has remained passive, allowing them to believe that their little movement could force their will upon the government without the public having the energy or organization to stop them. The Tea Party shows that to be a fantasy. In the Tea Party, you have people from all walks of life, people who have never been political before, who are suddenly rising up. That's what scares the left.
andrew: makes me smile just thinking about it...
I saw an article in the paper the other day that right off the bat referred to the "radical" tea party. What I fail to understand is how is wanting to preserve the constitution, wanting to put a stop to wasteful govt spending, getting the govt out of your everyday life. When did that become radical. As always, the left has got it backwards. In my mind, not calling a terroist a terrorist, not having to prove that you are a citizen to vote, (and yes I know this one will make me a crazy fanatical) having abortion (killing of babies) as a normal everyday deal. Those ideas are radical. Being buried under 30inches of snow and blaming global warming, that's radical. Wanting the govt to take over gm, banks, medical and anything else they can get there hands on especially since they have a proven record of fiscal irresponsibility, thats radical. Having a guy like Van Jones in your adminstration, that's radical. I could go for days. I am a conservative american believing in conservative values. If that makes me a radical, then I guess I ought to get me a shirt and cape with a big R on it. Radical Man, yea I like the sound of that.
