Headlines of the Day (edit-1)

I never likes a political headline that begins "Backdoor..." It means one thing: Bend thee over, cause Washington is taking what you gots!

Backdoor taxes to hit middle class: In the 2010 budget tabled by President Barack Obama on Monday, the White House wants to let billions of dollars in tax breaks expire by the end of the year -- effectively a tax hike by stealth.

EDIT: Reuters pulls "backdoor" story. See HERE. Makes you ask WHY?, don't it.

Need a job? OBAMA WANTS YOU!

The era of big government has returned with a vengeance, in the form of the largest federal work force in modern history.

The Obama administration says the government will grow to 2.15 million employees this year, topping 2 million for the first time since President Clinton declared that "the era of big government is over" and joined forces with a Republican-led Congress in the 1990s to pare back the federal work force.

Concerning the terrorist civil trials that Barry is insistent upon, mainly to prove to the world that he isn't Bush (can't quit ya!), Richard Cohen hits the nail on the head so all can understand:

A military tribunal would fit them fine. If it is good enough for your average GI accused of murder or some such thing, it ought to be good enough for a foreign national with mass murder on his mind.

He ends with this brilliant, concise, summation:

No doubt George Bush soiled America's image abroad with what looked liked vigilante justice and Dick Cheney's hearty endorsement of ugly interrogation measures. But more is at stake here than America's image abroad -- namely the security and peace of mind of Americans in America. Bush stands condemned by the facts for 9/11 -- his watch, his responsibility -- and in all likelihood he bent over backward to ensure that nothing like those attacks would happen again.

The Obama administration, on the other hand, seems to have bent over backward to prove to the world it is not the Bush administration and will, almost no matter what, ensure that everyone gets the benefit of American civil liberties. But the paramount civil liberty is a sense of security and this, sad to say, has eroded under Barack Obama. Repeatedly, the administration has shown poor judgment. Abdulmutallab's silence is a scream that something is wrong.

Well done, Richard.

Big war spending continues under Obama

The war spending proposed by Obama is only slightly less than in each of the last two years of the administration of President George Bush and carries considerable political peril for the Democratic president who took office last year.

Obama campaigned for the White House vowing to end the Iraq war. His party has a large anti-war contingent that is wary of spending more money on the battlefield, and some of its leaders said they would carefully review the military budget.

U.S. troops are to leave Iraq by the end of 2011, but Obama is seeking to escalate the U.S. presence in Afghanistan to step up the fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban.

So. Afghanistan? Barry logic 101: Technicalities are your friend!

This kid makes me root him on and cringe at the same time. Youth!

This kind of sums things up for me:

Polls: People still like Obama, they just don't believe him

Yeah. That's the dude you want running your country, your business, your healthcare, your pension, your bank, your sports, your daycare, your ~anything important to you here~

Who knew Joe Wilson was such a visionary. YOU LIE!

Patti: Excellent potpourri again. I was just wondering, is that Andrew now working for the Obama administration? LOL

As for the growth of government as the public sector declines, an ancient questions returns: "When they've finished eating the rich, who's going to feed them?"

As you know, I agree with you whole-heatedly on military tribunals for terrorists. I would add the following to your position: "If they're good enough for Navy SEALs accused of nothing more than roughing up a terrorist, they're good enough for the terrorists themselves." Obama be damned.

law: lol! andrew is gonna be ticked when he sees this! you know how i feel about those seals. and, honestly, i think tribunals are too good for terrorists. i advocate sending them to texas and giving them a 5 minute head start of RUNNIN'! we'd see real justice then...

andrew: lol, it's just wrong. i agree!
