The Land of Environmental Ruh-Roh, brings us news we can use!
News story #1:
Becoming Vegetarian "Can Harm The Environment"
The best part of this article (the study was funded by an environmental group that got pwned by the results...BOOM!) is how the Vegetarian Society goes down swinging when faced with a truth they no likey.
"If you're aiming to reduce your environmental impact by going vegetarian then it's obviously not a good idea to rely on highly processed products, but that doesn't undermine the fact that the livestock industry causes enormous damage."
Take that meat-eaters. We vegetarians may be causing environmental harm, but you guys, you, you, you meat-eaters, you cause enormous damage.
My rebuttal: If by damage, you mean to mah double meat cheese burger, then yes, we DO cause enormous damage. Seriously, do you know how BIG those delicious, dripping, meaty, burgers are?! SO BIG!
Yum.
News story #2 (yep, i intentionally used the #2 as a SALUTE to crap!):
World May Not Be Warming
And the prize for the understatement of the year goes to....
The doubts of Christy and a number of other researchers focus on the thousands of weather stations around the world, which have been used to collect temperature data over the past 150 years. Let's see. The temps were rising, BUTT (yes, I know you know) there were extenuating circumstances that any 5th grade scientist would understand, grasp, figure in the data, that led to many of those higher readings.
Oh my. Now I'm worried, really worried. What of Gore? WHAT OF GORE?!
And not to belabor the point of a continuing downward spiral of the "facts" of global warming, but let's see this for what it is: a devious, money-driven, greedy, sinister scheme to steal your wealth and limit your freedom of choice (note to self: this reminds me i need to pick up MORE incandescent light bulbs after causing enormous damage to mah burger).
Climategate U-turn: Astonishment as scientist at centre of global warming row admits: There has been no global warming since 1995
Egg meet face.
Do you think the environmentalists will make any commercials featuring frolicking, contented polar bears on ice floes, doing what polar bears do, (yet the group originally manipulated many into thinking they were IN DANGER!), while the voice-over says, "Oopsie. Sorry about that. Our bad."
Nah. Those folks are digging in. Trust.
News Story #3:
Big Brother Out Of Control
Don't think the environmentalists are digging in, regardless of facts that disprove their delusions? Audi Super Bowl commercial anyone?
Jeff Jacoby has an great article about the green police and their intent for us.
“Green has never felt so right,’’ proclaims Audi’s dystopian ad. Others agree. David Roberts, who writes for the environmental webzine Grist (and who has called for putting global warming skeptics on trial), says the “thrill’’ of the ad “turns on satisfying the green police.’’ The commercial makes sense, he writes, only “if it’s aimed at people who acknowledge the moral authority of the green police - people who may find those [environmental] obligations tiresome and constraining . . . but who recognize that living more sustainably is in fact the moral thing to do.’’
Who "acknowledge the moral authority of the green police"????? And putting global warming skeptics on trial?!?! Those be fightin' words, Dave.
It isn’t to evil dictators with a lust for power that Americans have been slowly surrendering their autonomy. It is to well-intentioned authorities who believe sincerely that our freedoms must be circumscribed for our own good. At the White House on Tuesday, First Lady Michelle Obama announced what The New York Times called “a sweeping initiative . . . aimed at revamping the way American children eat and play - reshaping school lunches, playgrounds, and even medical checkups - with the goal of eliminating childhood obesity
Nothing in the Constitution authorizes the federal government to take charge of “revamping the way American children eat and play.’’ It is only our passivity that makes such an encroachment possible. This used to be the land of the free. Is it still?
I am hoping so, brother.

Patti: The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and the Democrats are just chock-full of good intentions. It's getting very hot around here, and it has nothing to do with global warming. Are we still the land of the free and the home of the brave? Not by a longshot. But, better times are coming, I'm sure of it.
law: from your lips to god's ear...
Patti, I saw the vegetarian thing and laughed my rear end off! It just shows again the false premise upon which so much of their science is based!
And the big brother stuff just really infuriates me. Our government needs to back off and stop spying on us and trying to control us.
andrew: they will have to pry my double-meat burger from my cold dead hands...
it's their arrogant defiance in the face of TRUTH that get me. and they have the nerve to think of themselves as evolved. newsflash greenies: the evolved use their gray matter for more than just skull stuffin'.
Patti, Me too!! LOL!
