It's A New Day In America

Forgive my lateness in posting, my friends. Last night, immediately after the results came in confirming Brown taking The People's Seat, I made plans to get my behind to Mass first thing this morning. My utter joy and thankfulness begged to be expressed in the pews. The events this country witnessed throughout the special election and campaigning process was nothing short of miraculous. So to Mass I went.

First reading was a wink from the Big Man himself. David and Goliath, I kid you not.

After Mass, a friend came up to me to ask if it was my son's birthday (as to why I was unexpectedly in church on a weekday). Nope. "It's a new day in America and I came to give thanks." I was then invited to join a few ladies for coffee and talk of politics. That's right, church ladies talkin' political smack! BOOM! How could I refuse that delicious offer? To hear what other Americans are thinking, to get first hand opinions on the seismic shift, well this is what I do.

They, along with me, were filled to the brim with renewed hope and enthusiastic wonder of what it will mean, and were encouraged for the days ahead, but mostly, we were strengthened by the power of what we witnessed. Power of the people to STAND UP AND BE COUNTED even when ridiculed, belittled and labeled extremists by our own leaders. Power of courage in the face of defeat (Brown's numbers weren't always so terrific). Power of a Tea Party. Power of God Almighty.

Man, I love Americans. Laser -focused and fiercely unleashed when you threaten to take their freedoms! I have one word for the politicians who still think, on this new day, that they can continue to drop Road Runneresque anvils on our head willy-nilly: RUN!

Brown's EPIC WIN represents far more than the seat he's to occupy. It represents the voices of all who showed up to town hall meetings and felt compelled, some for the first time EVER in their lives, to have their political say. It represents the ideals of those who attended/committed to local Tea Party events. It represents a chance for freedom to remain firmly in the hands of We, The People. It represents our intent to Washington: We ain't playin'. It represents the balance of unchecked power. It represents a new day in America.

Brown is not going to Washington alone; he's going to Washington with all of Conservative America.

You know the slogan of UPS: What can Brown do for you? I say, what can we do for Brown? He takes to Washington an enormous responsibility. Let's remember to encourage him. Let's remember to encourage others like him. Let's remember our conservative roots and never let those we've elected to forget them either. Let's remember the Alamo (ok, just seeing if you're still with me :)! Let's remember the blood spilled since our country's conception, and the blood being spilled now, in the name of FREEDOM! and never, ever, take that for granted. Let's remember that this, my dear friends, is a first step, an encouraging shift, a warning shot, but that it is our duty to continue these good works if we wish to remain free.

For those who missed the video yesterday in the slew of edits, I'll post again.

Well done, Massachusetts! God Bless America!

A good reminder - that we need to help Brown and others of his ilk right now.

I put on everything brown I could find and went out onto the streets, flashing a broad smile at every depressed San Franciscan I could find. Great fun, even in the rain. Of course the people at my mail drop thought I was the UPS guy and tried to give me packages to deliver. Guess I shouldn't have pulled my brown cap down over my eyes. LOL

To keep the momentum will require eternal vigilance from “We the People.” Nicely put Patti!
