Beer makes racism all better, right?
Please Barry, stop talking. You are embarrassing all of us. By telling the press that the Gates' arrest is a "... "teachable moment" and defended his decision to weigh in. "The fact that this has become such a big issue I think is indicative of the fact that, you know, race is still a troubling aspect of our society," he said. "Whether I were black or white, I think that me commenting on this — and hopefully contributing to constructive, as opposed to negative, understandings about the issue — is part of my portfolio." Bar shows his racist hand. He self-righteously believes that he needs to teach us. Class syllabus: White cop arresting black man = racism. Pass/Fail class. Final based on one question (answer on back of test): Who was the racist? Flip test over: THE WHITE COP! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
No matter that most Americans think that both Gates and his friend Barry were dead wrong on this mess. They screwed up, but worse, showed their hand. Barry keeps harping about race. Gates is yappin' about it. The rest of us, not so much. Racial tensions aren't what they used to be, even though Obama would like you to believe differently.
Barry got one thing right. This is a teachable moment. Americans have come a long way in race relations and folks on all sides are sick to death of being accused of being racists by those who wish to divide us. No matter the color you walk around in, one should wait for the facts before shooting off their mouth (or better yet: one should not admit to not having the facts before shooting off one's mouth anyway.) Those of us without the benefit *snark* of an Ivy League education will apparently have to wait for these two to catch up.
And this ridiculous Beer Summit? (Don't Call It A Summit!!) No amount of beer is gonna change the words that came out of your mouth Barry, even if you had served Shiner, which you didn't. (Important note to all non-Texans: Shiner can cure all ills. The End.)
You can count me as one American who has no need for the teaching methods or ideology of Prof Bar or Gates. I will be skipping that class. Yet, not so much the Shiner.

How about an upper for a change?! Here's some fantastic government-run programs news: Cash for Clunkers will be suspended!
These are the same folks that want control of your health care and energy programs as well, because gosh darn it, they are so good at what they do. They are efficient, well-oiled, irresponsible tax and spend machines. Stop and think before they act on the people's behalf? No need. Once they have your money where's the need for thought? Took one week for this government-run program to implode. ONE WEEK.
Bravo Washington. I thank you for the additional ammunition to take down your feral hog legislation as you go on break.

Semper Fi, Brandon
20 year old Lance Cpl. Brandon T. Lara died a week ago Saturday in Iraq. He was brought home Sunday and I was honored to stand along the roadside with thousands of others to honor him and his family as his motorcade drove by.
I was moved beyond tears to a parent's pain at the thought of losing my son as the hearse moved past us. To bear witness to the family's pain in the next vehicle was almost more than one could stand. The sacrifice this young man made, that his family made, that all of us who support our troops made, is immeasurable. I pray that he and those along with him have not died in vain.
May we never forget their supreme sacrifice. When called, may we make our own in the ways we are able, in honor of all those who have fallen for our sake. May we carry our Brandons with us as we continue the battle.
Semper Fi, Brandon.
The morning is hot. At 10:00 , it's already hovering around 90 degrees, yet the streets are lined with patriots.

The vehicles went on as far as you could see.

Firefighters were everywhere. These trucks were at the front entrance of Randolph Air Force Base. As they tried to get the flag to cooperate, the crowd was cheering them on.

Bikers. So many bikers. This group is called the Patriot Guard Riders. They show up at funeral processions around the country as invited guests by the families. Amazing folks.

Patriotism and sadness intertwined everyone's hearts and minds.

As the procession started, we took to the street.

I love the huge flag those folks brought. This is the front of the base.

There had been chatter and nervous laughter from some, but as the procession started, silence fell.

Brandon.

We were all crying. The sadness had a physical weight. Brandon's sacrifice, the sacrifice of so many, wasn't lost on anyone there to say goodbye.

Patriot Guard Riders.

A funny thing happened after the procession passed us. So many jumped into their cars and followed. The procession was from Randolph Air Force Base to the city of New Braunfels, which is about 30 miles away. We knew the route...so many of us followed.

I was overwhelmed with how many people were standing in the full sun, in the Texas heat, to have a chance to pay their respects.

Youngsters, teenagers, old folks. They stood there, silent as we all passed by. Makes me cry even now.

A vet in a wheelchair in the middle of the street. I can not express the emotion I felt. I was so proud of my fellow Americans.

Stunning. Overwhelming.

Another moment where I started to cry. From one generation of badasses to another, these guys stood and waited on Brandon.

The procession nearing IH35. We wondered how the procession was going to get onto the highway. There were so many vehicles following at this point. I'd say at least 50-75, not counting bikers. The longer we were on the road, the more the procession grew.

One of the Patriot Guard Riders pulling up the rear.

We pulled out of the procession right before IH35. This is the last of it. How would they get on that highway?!

Not to worry, the cops pulled IH35 to a standstill. You can see the traffic to the north is not only stopped, but backed up. From this point it's another 20 miles or so to New Braunfels. I have never in all my years living here, ever seen a funeral procession given the right-of-way like this. It made me laugh with joy.

My parting thought is this: If you ever have the opportunity to stand along the road to honor a fallen soldier as their motorcade passes by, do it. It is the least we can do.

Racism 101
People will tell you who they are, it's up to you to pay attention.
Some folks will use their words: I'm CrAzY! Boogitty Booggity!!! (time to cross the street)
Other use actions: Barry supporting his "friend" Henry Gates based on the color of the arresting officer's skin color. If that ain't racist, if Barry ain't a race-baiting racist, then I'm Queen of the Internets (thanky Al Gore!).
Others use sarcasm. See above.
Now, Gates has come out and said this: he is ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying "in the end, this is not about me at all."
Uh-huh. Unfortunately for Gates, I be paying attention. Dude, you so made this about you when you inflamed a fairly benign situation by refusing to ID yourself properly, by unnecessarily insulting Crowley with a stupid "your momma" dis, by trying to intimidate an officer of the law to stand down by shouting "Don't you know who I am?"
You made this about you when you say you hope to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal system. Improve fairness for whom? White cops who are forced to arrest belligerent, noncooperating members of the community who won't properly follow simple instructions? Or for highly educated, self-presumed privileged beyond the law, black friends of the president?
Gates would like us to believe he was caught up in an arrest that was based on race and an unfortunate event that escalated beyond his control. He would like us to believe that all white cops are rouge cops waiting to bust an innocent black man just minding his business, in his own home for goodness sake. Again, I be paying attention.
No sir. Please put your sizable education to use and THINK! You refused to show ID, you refused to do as the officer asked, you, as a black man, insulted a white man's mother, instantly turning this into a race issue. You sir, bear the responsibilities of your actions.
The right thing to do would be to man up and admit your mistake, apologize and then get on with things. But that would just be another case of: "As always, whitey now sits in judgment of me, preparing to cast my fate..."
You and Barry are alike in the fact that you both use your words to say what you would like us to think, but then use your actions to show us who you really are. Dude, so disappointing.

Can't we all just get along?!
EDIT end of post @ 1:40 pm.
Douche of the Week: Barry.
Once again, Barry gave us a glimpse of who he really is with his remarks about the Gates' arrest.
Press secretary Robert Gibbs stood by Obama’s statement that a Cambridge police officer, James Crowley, had acted “stupidly” in arresting Henry Louis “Skip” Gates Jr. but added some implicit criticism of Gates’s conduct, suggesting “both sides” bear blame for the incident. Obama, who said that he was “surprised by the controversy,” said he wished that “cooler heads” had prevailed and described Crowley as an “outstanding” officer.
So instead of waiting until he had all the facts, Bar knee-jerked a response based on the fact that Gates is a distinguished black professor and the cop was white. Well now, that's got to be about racism instead of a belligerent man seen trying to jimmy a jammed door at night refusing to give proper ID. It was sickening to hear this coming from the mouth of the man who is supposed to be leading us, the man who was going to move us beyond race, yet can't seem to stop making so many things about it.
I don't care who you are, if a cop asks for ID you better be able and willing to produce it. End of story. I don't care what color you are, if you are seen trying to jimmy a door at night and the cops arrive, time to stop what you're doing and have a calm conversation about the whys of the events. Period. I would expect the same if it had been me trying to get into my own home. I would have had the understanding of what it might look like to someone who didn't know it was my house. I would have gladly produced my ID instead of shouting obscenities at the white officer and evening including a remark about the cop's mother.
Yeah, that had to help matters.
Not knowing all the facts Obama says:
"But I think it's fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry," Obama said. "No. 2, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home. And No. 3 — what I think we know separate and apart from this incident — is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately, and that's just a fact."
Gotcha. Because there is a history of disproportionate action, then we shouldn't stop any possible crimes we see being committed by those of color? Barry, to use your own words, that would be acting stupidly.
Some say that because blacks commit more crimes the percentages of being stopped are higher for that racial group. (see Bureau of Justice stats) I don't know, I'm not an expert in the field. What I do have is common sense, as do most of you. If I witness anyone trying to get into a home in my neighborhood and I can't identify them because it's dark, I'm calling the cops. I want to protect my neighbor. I want to protect my neighborhood. I'm calling and if everyone is where they belong, then no harm no foul. But if the worst is happening, then wouldn't you be glad I got involved?
As far as the professor busting a nut, I have no idea what he was thinking. Maybe he thought his position in the community offered him privilege. Wouldn't be the first time that has happened. Maybe he was having a horrible rotten day and he lost it. We've all been there. But you would think no matter what he was thinking that he would understand, just like you and me, that when the cops show up, they are there for a reason and it's best to give them the info they need to make the determination that you are who you say you are. They are trying to serve and protect you. Let them do their job.
Even idiot thugs on the street corners know that simple bit of truth, no matter what color their skin.
EDIT: If you recall THIS POST from Monday, then you recall that I called Texas Governor Rick Perry about our state's option to opt out of the nationalized health care debacle. I was told that no plans were on the table...as of yet.
Then today, a mere four days later, I hear/read this: Gov. Rick Perry, raising the specter of a showdown with the Obama administration, suggested Thursday that he would consider invoking states’ rights protections under the 10th Amendment to resist the president’s healthcare plan, which he said would be "disastrous" for Texas.
I'm just saying, a call from Patti is a call to action.
And just so you know Momma is not naive, yes, I know this has a tremendous amount to do with his reelection bid. But, for the next few days I'm gonna pretend is was because of me. It's what gets me by.

My Proposals
Karl Rove, will you marry me?
Don't you love how Team Obama is listening to the American public on the issues. Kinda makes you feel all warm inside....from your righteous anger.
Ben Smith, will you marry me?
The appearance was striking by its absence of a move that’s long characterized Obama’s political career: When in trouble, go big. Faced with a crisis of confidence or with a political furor, he’s repeatedly shown an ability to rise above the storm, and to broaden the playing field, as when he turned a flap over his pastor into a meditation on race in America.
Joe Asness, will you marry me?
Roger Simon, will you marry me?

Now, facing his hardest test as President, Obama chose to go small.
Obama going small translates to well thought out strategy. The only time this man is off point is when is is out among the people being asked things by the likes of Joe the Plumber.
Joe Asness, will you marry me?
Myth #7 Health Care is A Right
Joe's article reminds me of my friends at Commentarama (under my Badass list, cause, well, they are). Read Joe's article and then zip over to Commentarama and read theirs. There ARE solutions the the health care issue (NOT A CRISIS) that doesn't entail a power grab for #1) your cash #2) your choice BUT most importantly #3) your freedoms.Roger Simon, will you marry me?
Barack Obama has seen the present, and it doesn’t work.
Seriously, any dude that can use the word "stank" in a Politico article has my heart. The fact that actual article is small and a fun read is a bonus.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go explain to Husband why I just proposed to four other guys.

Push Back...For As Long As It Takes
The rush is on for passage of this disastrous health care bill with BarryVision coming to a television near you tonight. OMG!! Summertime reality TV is to die for. Man, was that Freudian or what?!
Some of you may know this already, but some may not: Legislation to be outlined next week in the Senate Finance Committee will likely include a new tax on workers with the costliest employer-provided health coverage, officials said Friday, but with implementation delayed until 2013 to minimize any political fallout.
(Hat Tip to Garry)
So, the bill is needed now. DON'T YOU PEOPLE CARE THAT PEOPLE ARE DYING NOW! We can not wait even one more week in order to save everyone from the health care crisis that has taken over America. PASS THIS NOW, OR WE ARE DOOMED! but then we'll wait to implement it until 2013, details shmetails. by the way, shhhhhhhhhhhh on this fact.
Why the rush to push this horrible terrible piece of legislation through NOW? Why not take some time and think things through? Why not have a true meeting of the minds and fix the mess instead of saying something is better than nothing? And for the record, no it's not.
Barry and Crew are shrewd. They know time is of the essence and that folks, good folks who may have been asleep previously but who are now awaking, are on to the shenanigans of those who wish to harm us. They know that if they have to wait that their chances of succeeding diminish.
We are on to them. Do not let up. There is still danger until this is off the table.
Barry had this to say: And what I found is that as long as we are making good decisions, thinking always what's ... best for the American people, that, eventually, as long as we're persistent and we're listening to the American people, that things get done."
Yeah, he's listening to us holler and scream that we don't think this is good for us, he is listening to us say NO! to the plan as it stands, he is listening to the growing discontent and he knows it may be now or never. Barry is many things, stupid is not one of them.
He says what many want to believe, want to trust, but in fact he says what he needs to in order to proceed. Do not listen to his words. Hold his actions accountable instead. If he were truly listening he would see this:
63% of Americans think the US is on the wrong track.
72% of us think that government spending will increase
29% trust Barry on the economy
Gosh, I feel better now and I bet you do too. No? Well, then you must not love your country like Barry does. Cause he's looking out for what's best for you, whether you think it's best or not. Just let him do the thinkin', will ya?! Sheesh.
Given these numbers, why the hell would Barry and Crew think that pushing through a bill that will bankrupt us is listening to the American people? Try to keep your helmet secured, the question was rhetorical.
In the spirit of NFL football training camps starting this week throughout our great country, I offer this cheer: Push 'er back baby, waaaaaaaaay back!

CALL CALL CALL
I shuddered this morning to see that Barry and I have the same idea running through our noggins: Obama To Press "Blue Dog" Dems on Health Care.
Fine. He's allowed to steal my thunder. Whatev. BUT, we still have the power of voting my friends. Continue to call and inform these Blue Dogs that if they don't vote NO! on nationalized health care that you will work to unseat their behinds from the gravy train. Put your plan of action as an concerned proactive American citizen on the table so there is no mistaking your intent. Call them today and call them tomorrow.
CALL CALL CALL
Here's the list of those on the fence:

What Can We Do? Plenty....
I went back in time to West Texas last week and while I was there I noticed several things:
1) West Texans are still as opinionated as I remembered and that includes their thoughts on politics.
2) Opinions of political dissatisfaction are almost always punctuated by some sort of deep primal noise to make their point.
3) Most West Texans would like to speak to Barry themselves. They can do without their representatives speaking for them.
4) The food is to die for, but no matter what my family says, I go there to visit them not the food. (winkety wink)
Because I didn't have my crackberry yet, and because I was too lazy to pack a laptop, and because AM radio is all about country music and evangelizing, and because everyone had a life out at the lake or golfing there was no FOX News to straightline. I missed most of my political updates. If I tweaked the radio just right, I could get Hannity, but for the most part I was out of the loop.
On one hand it was nirvana: No Barry and Crew asswipery updates meant I could, for a brief time, pretend that all was well with our great nation. On the other hand it was hell: No Barry and Crew douchbaggery updates to keep me apprised of how the fight is going. As if I didn't know.
I'm back now. I'm rested and ready to fight the good and mighty fight. And just in time, as I see that there is no rest for the wicked...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blue Dog Democrats. Man, I have never in my life prayed for a group with such intensity as I have been praying for these dudes/dudettes. I suggest you do the same. Nationalized health care = kiss your freedom/monies made/health buh-bye.
I called Rick Perry (gov of Texas) and asked his office if the state planned on any legislation to opt out of this health care debacle. "As of this time there is no legislation pending, but I would be happy to document your opinion and feel free to check on the website to see what's new."
Oh man, did I give her my opinion and my name and told them to get on it. As if.
Next I contacted Lamar Smith who is purportedly fighting with both his asskickin' boots. They advised me no such legislation has been offered. I gave them this example and said that Texas needs to lead damnit and not wait around for Barry to bend us over. We're Texans gosh darn it, we do the bending over.
Ok, fine. My words were a bit more refined, but they totally were feelin' me.
John Cornyn's office advised that they are opposed opposed opposed, but that our numbers are weak. I am not a fan of Cornyn. I have often said that the moment he ran for Congress, he was running for President. I asked if there is a possibility that Cornyn would crack and vote yes for any type of nationalized health care. I was told probably not. Didn't make me feel better. Pissed me off if you must know.
I will tell you this, if ANY Republican votes for this thing, I will post their names often, and most likely with snarky comments and maybe a pic with a drawn on mustache, so all can be reminded as their reelection comes due.
Lastly, I called Kay Bailey's office. I asked for the list of Blue Dogs on the fence. Give me their names! Give me a site to get their names! Give me some numbers to pass along to my readers!
The site Kay Bailey's office referenced is Wikepedia's Blue Dog Coalition. They assured me this list is current and EVERY member with the exception of Loretta Sanchez (I took her name off) is on the fence about the nationalized health care bill.
EVERY MEMBER! People, today there is hope.
I say we call these folks enmasse and relentlessly. Go to the site, click on their names and you will find a link to their site for a number to call. Pass the site around on your email lists. Enlist friends and family to call. CALL CALL CALL!
Tell the Blue Dogs they have a chance to be American Heroes, by voting NO! to this socialistic piece of nonsense that will bankrupt our future and imperil our health. Tell them you will work to get their opposition elected if they fail to deliver a NO! vote. Tell them, as politely but as forcefully as you can muster, that the time to stand up is now.
We need American Heroes. Blue Dogs, won't you join us?
Badass of the Day: Steven Crowder
You can catch his stuff over at Big Hollywood, home of many a badass, or over at Pajamas TV.
Keep up the calling, folks. Let's show them how we do this thing.
What Gives?
Here's a burning question I have: How is it that when the economic meltdown began, I reviewed the situation from a position as one who consumes within the economy, yet not holding a degree in economics, and advised those closest to me that this downturn was going to be severe, much more severe than the economists were saying and most likely would last a few years, not months?
Are most of our economists morons? Can't possibly be, right? Are they all on Barry's payroll? Pondering. Are they nonconsumers and therefore not witnessing what the rest of us are out in the mean streets of Macy's and Target? Magic Eight Ball says unlikely.
So what gives?
If a regular gal like myself can take a hard look at reality around me, within my community, watching stores and their dwindling inventory and ever widening aisles, observing smaller crowds in the shopping malls, hearing of those losing jobs, of those having trouble finding replacement jobs, noticing prices rising, concluding that the guys getting paid the big bucks are wrong, then what else are the talking heads wrong about? Or more to the point, why are they trying to convince us? How does that serve them? Smacks of denying it makes it true, eh?
Even bigger question: If Barry and crew couldn't get the economy right ( barry concedes jobless rate is climbing and will continue to climb) then why the hell would we trust them on cap-and-tax (which will absolutely kill jobs) or health care (which will absolutely kill some of us, we just don't know which ones yet)? WHY?!
Yet, for every action there is an equal and opposite action (ex: Obama gets elected = Not A Wonk is born). The Wall Street Journal gives us this: The Economy Is Even Worse Than You Think.
Maybe worse than Barry wants you to think, than his economists have been paid to tell you how to think, but for me it's confirmation.
Now give me my degree.
Barry and Crew want you....to pay.
Time to gird your lions and get ready for some major push back. Do not underestimate Barry and Crew. He is hellbent on making you pay for the health care debacle that will reduce your quality of care.
Do not underestimate him. With his words he is showing you exactly who he is. He makes it clear that anyone who disagrees with him is a naysayer and critic. Make those calls and make them frequently.
Let's show him how we plan to get things done.
The Sonia Show
Sonia is retracting her 'wise Latina" statements as she is grilled in the process of confirmation. Uh-huh. See something you want, but said something that is obstructing your want (obstructing in the loosest of terms here, because she will be confirmed), just retract. Viola! Easy Cheesy.
Sotomayor told students in 2001 that "Justice O'Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases" and "I am not sure I agree with that statement." Show of hands: Who believes our soon to be new justice? And if the tail-end of that last sentence didn't send a shiver down your spine, then what the hell are you doing reading here?
On a related note, yesterday I heard some Hispanic law students at St. Mary's (here in San Antonio) interviewed as they watched The Sonia Show hearing and they were unanimously thrilled that a Hispanic was going to be a justice. The problem I had was their words implied that they were thrilled solely based on the fact that she was Hispanic. Her record didn't come up, her controversy didn't come up, her wise Latina remark didn't come up. These are our future lawyers, folks.
As a white woman, I can tell you that if white woman had been nominated instead of Sonia, and that woman showed activist leanings, radical ties to groups that are not aligned with the well-being of the United States, you can be sure I'd be hollering to keep her from a position of power.
If I were Hispanic I would be mortified that this woman is being held up as the standard bearer for all Hispanics, especially Hispanic women. To support someone based on the color of their skin over someone else more qualified of a different shade is racism. Law students ought to know better, or at least as Sonia is doing this morning, try to hide it better.
As I write this entry, I am listening to The Sonia Show addressing the right to bear arms. Warren Hatch is at bat. He's bring up all her opinions about how Ms. Sonia doesn't believe that the right to arms is not necessarily a "fundamental right." Her words.
Get her Warren. Pew pew pew!
Who's up for some fun?
How arrogant have we become?! (and by "we" I mean the radical greenies who stand to make billions off your backs)
President Obama and other Group of 8 leaders promised Wednesday they would keep temperatures from rising more than 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 Celsius) above average levels of more than a century ago. They also agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
Wow. If I had known all along that Barry possessed such power, I am pretty sure I would have voted for him too. Bar and Crew are gonna keep temps from rising! Check. What else can they do?! Perhaps they can have the sun come up a few minutes later on the weekends so it doesn't wake me before I am ready to drag myself out of bed. Or maybe they could shift our hot southern Texas winds to the north. Texas is cooking, Barry. Or really, why even stop at 3.6 degrees? Why not have them manipulate the temps down by 10 degrees in the summer but up by 10 in the winter? Think of the fuel we'd save.
Who the hell is buying this nonsense? I don't know of one single person who is willing to fork over their hard earned cash (at last count, each person will be out $3100ish per year) to fund a bill that has no proof it will work and that most agree won't. Keep in mind that when the libbies have a price tag on things you can count on the fact that they are low-balling you to get their gangrene foot in the door. Stimulus One ring any bells? WHAT STANKS?!
Oh wait, I do know someone who is all for this theft: Al Gore. His business stands to profit enormously from this.
Wait, I meant to say, Al Gore has already profited from this unscientific hysteria. And because he's not running for office so you can trust him, right? He has no ulterior motives, right? He's only looking out for you, the little guy, right? He just wants us to take care of the planet for future generations, right? He's got a great big heart and wants you to know you are in good hands, that you can trust him, right? RIGHT?!
Wrongo.
Here's a quote from Al:
Gore touted the Congressional climate bill, claiming it “will dramatically increase the prospects for success” in combating what he sees as the “crisis” of man-made global warming.
Let me translate for you: Bwhahahahahaha, greening the planet means MORE MONEY FOR ME SUCKAS!
We are letting a bitter, election-losing, propagandizing wacko push this revenge crack on all Americans. If cap-and-trade passes, Al will be our supplier and we will be the strung out junkies trying unsuccessfully to come off the juice.
Do not let your Senators off the hook. There is evidence folks who have a clearer head about this mess are making some leeway. We need to turn up the heat on these greedy bastards. Michelle Malkin has a great article about it and within the article are links to the Senators to hit the hardest. Let's have some summer fun, shall we?
Remind them again who their employers are. Go get 'em.
Smell that?!
Warning: I am making Italian Creme Cake cake today, which makes me happy, so today's blog will most likely be silly with a dash of snark and maybe a fart joke at the end.
Who just caught the pun?!
Onward....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I like big butts and I can not lie...
ABC says Barry ain't looking at the rear end of that young lady, but OH HO HO! Look At Sarkozy!! They throw Sarkozy under the lecherous bus while doing their duty as government run media and absolving B.O. of anything untoward. Of course he didn't look; He's Obama ~cue angels singing here~
Whatev. You know he looked. Hell, I looked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A headline that brought out the most juvenile part of me:
Obama: Health care doable but "hard"
That's what your mom said.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Newest political pundit looking to cash in is, drum roll please........Levi Johnson!
~ yawn ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A headline that brought out the most juvenile part of me, Part II:
Medvedev warns US against missile shield
I would like to think that gal with the longed after budunkadunk above would most likely insist on a US missile shield, as well as a French one.
Not in my backyard!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pull my finger?!

While his quote is eh, with a side of yawn, the response from Sarah's team is a LOL worthy:

Light the way
My friend (yes he is!) Andrew Price over at Commentarama posted a fantastic article on health care yesterday. RTRB: Health Care, Critiquing Obamacare. Click over and get ready to be amazed at the well-thought out report card he offers. While I give stick-poking observations here of the day's headlines hoping to spur you on to your own research, Andrew and crew do the bulk of the work for you. Not only that, but when you make a comment, they never leave you hanging like some sites. Sheesh. They will engage you and allow your view (just be prepared to defend with facts, baby. those legal eagles don't take no prisoners....although for some reason they do tolerate me and my poop jokes). In other words, you should have their page bookmarked. They are smart, funny, snarky, and there's even a cat on the payroll. What else do you want, people?! Now get, and tell 'em Patti sent ya.

The other thing that I wanted to throw against the wall and see if it sticks is this whole Pelosi/Panetta he said, she said, fiasco. But is it really a fiasco? My immediate thought when I heard this story break was this: Someone is covering their ass and it ain't Panetta. It's Pelosi. And she's doing it through other sources who need, for image sake, to protect her and the party.
I immediately thought: This is why you haven't heard from Ms. Pelosi in some time. She's been backstage, or her minions have been, twisting arms and offering swag to get this story out there so the American public can finally see that she was right. Pelosi would never lie to the American public. Right?
OK, so maybe my immediate reaction was a bit conspiracy-theory driven, but what does it say about us that I can make that leap (and I'm not the only one leaping apparently)? And who do they think they are kidding?
Which leads me to this: Rasmussen is reporting the new Barry numbers today and they are dropping like our jaws when we see the projected cost for "free" health care.
Tuesday his approval index was a -3, today it's a -8. Dude, dropping like it's hot. Swing on over to Rasmussen and see the numbers for yourself.
Since the election I have been following his numbers and they pained me to see because they were so freaking high in the beginning. I wondered how so many could put their faith in this man knowing what I knew (see yesterday's post). But now, after Barry has taken a few shots at this country, those who voted for this guy in good faith are starting to see what I suspected all along: Barry and Friends are not good for America.
The highly sought after independent voter seems to be catching on as well.
“Independents who had become effectively operational Democrats in 2006 and 2008 are now up for grabs and are trending Republican."
“They’re saying, ‘Costing too much, no results, see the downside, not sure of the upside,’” he said.
This is good news for those of us who have been standing on the sidelines since the election, trying not to appear as sour-grapes wackos but not caring so much if we did, hollering and screaming that we need to stop this train wreck of an administration before it's too late.
Finally, there is a shift. Thank you Jesus.
Now let's see if we can stop cap-and-trade and the socialist health care money pits. Power on peeps.

Jeb Bush states the obvious
Jeb Bush in Esquire:
Barack Obama would not have gotten elected if he'd let us in on his secret plan prior to the election. He would not have gotten elected if he'd said, "My idea is to create a $1.8 trillion deficit for the next fiscal year. My idea is to spend $750 billion [the president's budget estimate puts this figure at $630 billion] over the next ten years on a government-sponsored, government-subsidized health care policy. My idea is to create a massive cap-and-trade system [based on the idea] that CO2 is [a] pollutant and we need to tax it in a massive way to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions."
Nope, he wouldn't have, but it still stuns me that he did get elected knowing his past voting record and the company he kept. Those pieces of the puzzle were enough for me to form an opinion about Barry that has held up all these months later.
Lesson One Jeb: One does not have to say exactly what shenanigans they will pull prior to action, but their past will fill you in to what you might expect in the future. (most liberal voting record in the senate in '07, voted NO to paying down federal debt March '07, opposes gay marriage; supports civil union & gay equality Oct '06--then in '08 flip-flops to opposes CA Prop. 8, one-man-one-woman marriage, cast 130 “present” votes in IL Senate, endorsed Illinois handgun ban...and on and on and on).
Lesson Two Jeb: Actions speak louder than words. (one tiny, yet huge example: promised transparency, yet has delivered the opposite)
Lesson Three Jeb: Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are. (Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Jeremiah Wright)
Lesson Four Jeb: There was nothing secret about this man and his intentions for this country. If a neophyte like myself could glean his character from the information available, so could everyone else.
Lesson Five Jeb: Remorse is a powerful teacher. Next shot at rectifying this mess is 2012. See you at the polls.

Al and Barry want to save us!
As if we haven't been bent over enough: The U.S. should consider drafting a second stimulus package focusing on infrastructure projects because the $787 billion approved in February was “a bit too small,” said Laura Tyson, an outside advisor to President Barack Obama.
Who among you agrees?
Not many according to Rasmussen:
Overall, we the people are starting to catch on to the Bamster and his merry band of thieves. We trust them 30% to straighten out the economic crisis. Sheesh. If you had cancer and were given those odds of survival, you'd be worried.
The number I laughed over was that 38% of those polled think Barry is more ethical than most politicians. You would have thought on sheer perception that number would have been higher. Carefully crafted image BURN!
10% of some think taxes will go down. WHAT?! Who are these folks? It's certainly not our representatives. They have been telling us about their spending plans and hand-wringing how to pay for it. Um, that would be you 10%ers. YOU will be paying for it. Trust.
While our lack of leadership leader wants you to believe he "gets it" he most certainly does not. I am buoyed by the numbers turning. It translates to folks understanding that Barry has no intention of keeping his word to those he heavily relied on to get him into office. Those folks seem to be asking some hard questions about their guy, and for that I am grateful. Welcome home folks. Come on in and let me get you a helmet.
Speaking of helmets, you will need to make sure yours is on and the strap pulled tight for this next bit of asswipery.
Al Gore today compared the battle against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis.
Oh man, you read that right. So let me see if I can break this down. Climate change = fighting Nazis. Those who think this climate change bugaboo is based on flawed science and want a fair hearing on all sides of this complex issue = the Nazis.
Hey Al, first off let me say thanks for inventing the Internets. Crowning glory, I say. Secondly, I got to thinking and I was wondering if you could help me out on something that's been bothering me about the prospect of you making some payola from this CRISIS. Is it true?
There was this article written about you and I have to say it made some pretty compelling points. One point in particular was the one where you bully the Nazis, um I mean, those who disagree with you based on scientific facts:
Gosh. That almost seems like you're the Nazi. Jackbooted thugs have more finesse than that. Seriously, before you start accusing those of us who like to base their opinions on FACTS of being Nazis perhaps you should honor the late Michael Jackson and take a look in the mirror, Adolf.
