Beer makes racism all better, right?

Please Barry, stop talking. You are embarrassing all of us. By telling the press that the Gates' arrest is a "... "teachable moment" and defended his decision to weigh in. "The fact that this has become such a big issue I think is indicative of the fact that, you know, race is still a troubling aspect of our society," he said. "Whether I were black or white, I think that me commenting on this — and hopefully contributing to constructive, as opposed to negative, understandings about the issue — is part of my portfolio." Bar shows his racist hand. He self-righteously believes that he needs to teach us. Class syllabus: White cop arresting black man = racism. Pass/Fail class. Final based on one question (answer on back of test): Who was the racist? Flip test over: THE WHITE COP! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

No matter that most Americans think that both Gates and his friend Barry were dead wrong on this mess. They screwed up, but worse, showed their hand. Barry keeps harping about race. Gates is yappin' about it. The rest of us, not so much. Racial tensions aren't what they used to be, even though Obama would like you to believe differently.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters also say relations between white and black Americans are getting better. Only 17% say they are getting worse, while 16% say neither is true.

There is little racial disagreement on this question either. Sixty-seven percent (67%) of blacks and 61% of whites say race relations in America are improving.

Barry got one thing right. This is a teachable moment. Americans have come a long way in race relations and folks on all sides are sick to death of being accused of being racists by those who wish to divide us. No matter the color you walk around in, one should wait for the facts before shooting off their mouth (or better yet: one should not admit to not having the facts before shooting off one's mouth anyway.) Those of us without the benefit *snark* of an Ivy League education will apparently have to wait for these two to catch up.

And this ridiculous Beer Summit? (Don't Call It A Summit!!) No amount of beer is gonna change the words that came out of your mouth Barry, even if you had served Shiner, which you didn't. (Important note to all non-Texans: Shiner can cure all ills. The End.)

You can count me as one American who has no need for the teaching methods or ideology of Prof Bar or Gates. I will be skipping that class. Yet, not so much the Shiner.

How about an upper for a change?! Here's some fantastic government-run programs news: Cash for Clunkers will be suspended!

These are the same folks that want control of your health care and energy programs as well, because gosh darn it, they are so good at what they do. They are efficient, well-oiled, irresponsible tax and spend machines. Stop and think before they act on the people's behalf? No need. Once they have your money where's the need for thought? Took one week for this government-run program to implode. ONE WEEK.

Bravo Washington. I thank you for the additional ammunition to take down your feral hog legislation as you go on break.

Racism is still an issue in our society, but if it were as bad as Bar says, he would have never been elected. Get over yourself Bar, You are and overeducated bungling fool.

You could tell that "Cash for Clunkers" would be too costly. How many of us know people with clunkers that have been sitting in there driveways waiting for an opportunity to get rid of them. Just look at craigs list. Getting $4500 for a car worth a lot less is very enticing. But we are all paying for it the end. One billion doesn't go very far.

Beer cures all ills. Sadly, it doesn't cure all idiots. Barry had a great chance here to tell the black community, who have been screaming racism against whites, hispanics, asians, and even other blacks, that it's time they stopped looking for racism in all situations and got with the program. But he's not that kind of guy. Barry is a path of least resistance kind of guy, and all that does is let things fester. . . like his foreign policy.

Getting kinda tired of this red herring topic. Some are gleeful to see us turning our eyes away from the important issues affecting our country.

It is bad. Just because it's not out and out "I HATE BLACK PEOPLE" doesn't mean it's not pervasive in every aspect of our society. Obama was elected because he didn't act like what some would call "a black person," kinda like how Tiger Woods and Oprah are so loved because they come across as "safe" to those who would otherwise fear black people. Again, this is all my own personal conjecture.

Man oh man, I sure do wish black people would get over being treated like secondary citizens to white folks. Why can't they know their place???? When will they get over their hundreds of years of oppression already and climb up to the top as quickly as it took us over the course of those hundreds of years.... oh.

Heather, Good to see you back. Racism is a funny thing. A white man says something or does something that a black man (or politically correct media) says is wrong and we are racist, but a black man saying somehting about a white man is justified. F**k That. You can't have it both ways. What about your president jumping to the conclusion that because it was a white cop it was racist. Thats as racist as you get. As an older white man who has been around a while, I am sick and tired of it. These actions make it hard to accept these other racist groups. I have had many black friends in my life, my college roommate was black. I don't have an issue with skin color. I am appalled that you say Tiger acts white. That is not why people like him. It's because he acts decent and not like a gangsta. I don't like gangsta's, whether they are white, hispanic or black. They have no morals and they are not decent human beings.

I wouldn't say Tiger acts decent. Dude simply HAS to stop throwing temper tantrums on the green.

I guess I'm a racist now because I criticized him.

wow, spoken like a true white woman who's never dealt with racism in her life.

Wow Dugaldo, That's a racist assumption.

Dugaldo said...

Yeah and that's not a predictable response Grumpy Old Man.
